Dinner Buffett was first class. We only booked for one night but we were impressed with the grounds and dinner. Our room was too cold even with the AC turned off. Check-in did not go smoothly as we booked, and I thought, paid, on kayak just 5 minutes before checking in. Still, at the front desk there was a big delay in processing us and finding our reservation. They had us pay at the front desk so I will be checking the credit card bill. This was a very nice resort, though my husband and I don't gravitate towards resorts.
Everything was excellent , I have been in a more expensive resort that offer me the same comforter , I highly recommend this resort to everyone Everything was excellent
The pool, air condition bar Custumer skill
Huge pool, proximity to the beach is great. Staff was very nice which goes a long way. The rooms were a bit outdated but were kept clean. The Mercado buffet had good variety. Location is about a 10 - 15 min ride to airport which is great! Nightly Entertainment was fun. The pool bar only had one bartender who was extremely overwhelmed at times. No one helped him, even to restock. Pool closes at 7pm which is a bummer. The Beach isn't great as there are a lot of huge mountain rocks in the water. Television reception wasn't the best but then again who was really staying in to watch TV? Also there isn't an AC controller. You could only control the speed of the ceiling fan. I could've gone without the vendors all around.
Weather , staff from other hotels bugging in beachfront , loud bad music at restaurant
Best food I have had at an all inclusive in Puerto Plata. Staff was very friendly with lots of activities. Service in restaurants was incredible, by day two Domingo knew what we wanted and had it ready for every meal by the time we were there. Top shelf liquors available at select bars, safe is free, casino is right next door, beautiful beach, close to airport and city, would likely go back. We had 24 people come from 15 to 78 and all had a great time (and not one person was ill from food) Definitely more family oriented than for younger people, rooms were a bit dated... We had an outlet hanging out and a fridge that didn't work (we weren't in there very much), restaurant reservations can be hard to come by (if you get one go Japanese, by far the best) , less beach people trying to push excursions than other places but still there (they are honest and had better deals for the same stuff as the resort, IE we had resort goers in our group set up by the beach guys, but we paid a lot less), good liquor is really only found at the front bar
I was attending a Wedding Vow Ceremony and upon arrival to departure Everyone was very polite friendly with the best attitude. Food deliciously prepared, my suite was very clean, furnished appropriately and very comfortable.
I was pretty pleased. I like the design and set up of everything. I liked the beach huts that protect you from the sun and the pool was very nice. Maybe it just wasn't very busy when we went (May 19 - 24) but I didn't think it was too crowded and could always find a chair by the pool or a hut on the beach. I found plenty of food to keep me satisfied. Restaurant food was really good. Be sure to take advantage of being able to eat at each one once a week. This was my first all inclusive - I found it to be well worth the money for my group of 3, sharing 1 room with 2 beds. They have a stone called Larimar, only found in the DR, which is beautiful shades of blue, the beach vendors have a lot of lovely larimar jewelry - I highly recommend getting a piece for yourself. Negotiate but remember the individuals selling stuff only get a cut of the profit and they most likely have families to feed. I bought from a few. If you are looking for jewelry, ask for Julio and tell him Cara sent you! Beds weren't very comfortable but not horrible either. Not good for side sleepers - that's for sure, but not as bad as some reviewers made them out to be. I brought my own pillow too based on some of the reviews I read. Some of the staff was not too friendly. Learn some Spanish if you don't know any, that helps increase their friendliness and helpfulness towards you. One helper in the dining room pressured me to drink alcohol which I found really annoying, but that was only 1 guy out of many others who were very friendly and helpful. With some dishes it was difficult to tell if there was meat in them, it would be nice if they added ingredient lists at the buffet but the "healthy" section that contained 3 meatless options always had something I liked so I was pleased. The music at night was kind of annoying when trying to go to sleep early, but I'm pretty sure it never went past midnight. The people selling stuff on the beach can be extremely annoying/presistent, but I don't blame really blame them because they are doing what they can to get by.
I liked that the pool had a bar n the beach was walking distance. They had shows every night. It was a fun night. I didn't like that the authenticity of the national foods was very poor. But it was ok.
Staff treats you like family. Great spa
The staff is great there. The animation team works very hard.
We liked the fact it is 18 years + resort , the food at the a la carte restorant was perfect and the service was amazing ( Fransis ) The rooms does not match the hotel facilities... they are very poor in design , very dark and has humid on the seiling ...A/C makes lots of noise...
Probably one of the best hotels I have stayed at in Puerto Plata and I have been to five of them. Gorgeous views, courteous staff, all your needs addressed, good food, only place I have stayed as a resort/hotel that actually has Dominican food. It was not all inclusive. Food and drinks are seperate. However the prices are reasonable and the week was cheaper than I expected. Next time knowing that I will just budget differently.
Staff, location, breakfast by the beach Only their local low grade alcohol was included/one restaurant needed an appointment and the other you had to pay for
I liked the beach near by. As well as the city and other turist atraction out of the hotel were close by Internet (wifi) was not included and to pay for the service was too expensive. I wished they would have charged me in dollars instead of pesos.
The pool and the beach were beautiful There was no variety in the food . The entertainment was mediocre. Expresso was only available after 10am which I find ridiculous since espresso is usually drank for breakfast. I've traveled to other resorts in that strip and I prefer Barcelo which is next to Grand Paradise . The front desk receptionists are very rude.
