Great hotel service staff, very friendly and accomadating! Clean rooms. Comfy bed & pillows. Beautiful scenery by the river. Love the smell of cinnamon pine cones in the hallway. Enjoyed the pancake breakfast in the restaurant. Hotel was quiet & pleasant. Can't beat the location--walking distance to food & shopping. Great stay especially for price. I personally love a mini fridge in hotel rooms and would have preferred it if the rooms had one. Also service in restaurant, although friendly was very slow and there was hardly any diners. Plug in on lamp didn't work & I didn't realize it so i awoke to a dead cell phone instead of a fully charged one. Like most hotels, there is a lack of convenient electrical outlets for charging devices. still Enoyed stay and would stay again.
Everything was great and my weekend there made going back to the real world a little better :) That I couldn't stay longer
I thought the location of the hotel was excellent. The restraint in the hotel was so good that we didn't eat anywhere else during our trip. We loved it here and will come back in the future.
If you buy a room on an online site the Valley River Inn takes away all amenities. No breakfast, etc.. Also when the staff see's your online rate their attitude completely changes to the negative. Restaurants food was very poor and very expensive.
Sitting by and swimming in the pool was wonderful! And our meals on the deck by the river were excellent!
This is one of the older luxury hotels that has been wonderfully maintained. Spacious and beautiful with all the amenities you could want. Gracious staff and the restaurant and lounge were perfect!
Conveniently located on river walk and next to mall. Room was outdated for the premier hotel in Eugene
Vintage 60"s architecture, condition of facilities and cleanliness, riverside food and bar service, friendly and efficient staff.
Restaurant waitress Laura. Extremely pleasant and professional. The kitchen did a good job. The size of the room. The bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths. They should have been discarded 2 years ago. The worst I have seen. Was told by the guest service agent at check out that they just renovated the rooms. It was not in the budget. Dust on the night table. The GM is not doing his job.
Room service food was excellent. We shared the steak dinner and a Cobb salad. The beef was terrific as was the salad. Even though the hotel is about 45 years old, the room was newly renovated. The furnishings and decorations were very nice. Our only complaint was the bed was harder than is comfortable for us. Other than that, great stay.
I made a mistake on my reservation and accidentally booked for one week later than I had intended to be in town. Valley River Inn said "no problem" and they changed my reservation to that be night instead of the date one week out. I know that if they were booked solid they wouldn't be able to accommodate me but the front desk staff acted like it was not a big deal and that people make those mistakes all the time. I really appreciated the "customers always right" approach they took. pool and hot tub close at 10pm (which is fair considering many rooms look out to the pool and it wouldn't be nice to have loud noise coming from the pool area when you're trying to sleep.)
The decor, the staff, and the chef. Best food I've ever had at an American hotel.
Staff were very accommodating. Allowed for very early check in and we used their complimentary car service multiple times. Would definitely come back. Nothing.
Loved everything about this hotel. The room was very large with a sitting area dining area and a very large bathroom with double sinks! The room also had a working fire place and a very comfortable bed! The room was exceptionally clean and we didn't want to leave. The feel of the hotel is luxurious as soon as you walk in the lobby. The outside does not do the hotel justice. Absolutely worth the value. There seemed to be a train beat by and we could hear the horn several times during the night.
We have been coming to Eugene for the last two years because our son goes to school there. This is the first time we stayed at the Inn and loved it. We met the owner Brian in the elevator and he graciously welcomed us and made us feel at home. Everyone who worked there was truly welcoming and struck up a conversation with us. The rooms were spotless. Very highly recommended.
I got charged $19 for parking. Unaware this would be the case.
The staff were great and gave me some very helpful advice. The restuarant on site was very nice and the steak they served was amazing. The TV in the room was very large. The bed wasnt very firm
It is located at almost the center of downtown and you can simply walk to almost anything. The standard king size room I was given was nice and clean as well. I am fine with almost everything except with how Hilton and the staff handled my situation with the room. I originally booked the King Executive Jr suite. However, when I got there, they said there was a problem with the toilet in the room that they sold it to me. As a result, I was only given the choice of a double queen room or a standard King size room. I asked about other King exec suites but they said they cannot change to others. I then asked about the big price difference between the available rooms and if I can be compensated or refunded in anyway. They said they can't refund and they simply gave me a coupon (worth 35 dollars total for 2 people) for breakfast and free parking that is worth like 20 dollars. I was then put into a stand King room. Totally a joke. Super disappointed on how they dealt with my situation.
Location Stinky hall,no shower curtain,TP holder improperly installed, uninformed staff
The friendly staff gave us an upgrade to a corner room and it was very spacious. The bed was wonderful and the coffee in the room was better than what they served in the restaurant!! Nice fridge and coffee pot in the room. The updates were all nice too! When I booked online, they didn't state the extra charges. Parking - $17 per night, Pet fee - $50 and the restaurant food was spendy too! If I had been aware of these fees, I would have been able to compare rates better with other hotels. Other than that, I would have given this place a 5.
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, tidy and clean, upgraded finishes, nice place. The trains....
We always stay at Campus Inn when we pass thru Eugene. This was at least our 4th time. Service is good, the rooms are clean (well, this time our room had an older bath and the shower/tub showed some age), there's a Continental breakfast, restaurants within walking distance, and now we've discovered the Ruth Bascom walking/biking path just three blocks away. And there's a Whole Foods being constructed a block away. We'll definitely stay again.
Very convenient to downtown, once Whole Foods opens across the street, it will be even better!!!
We like the breakfast, and the people we're fairly nice until checkout time when a man pretends to listen to you check out while reading a paper. We also like the fact that it is across from Whole Foods. Didn't like leaf blowers at 9am.
The staff was very friendly and helpful Great location Did not get the sense of clean. The mattress was broken kept falling into the middle my back and neck hurt in the morning. Needs a total remodel.
Clean, simple, quiet, good location for what we needed. Just staying the night after an event at U of O, it was perfect.
Hot tub was out of operation and appeared to have been that way for a while. The bath tub drain was clogged thus the water pooled up while taking a shower. Stains on carpet and chairs. Over all cheap feel to rooms.
We locked up our bikes. By morning someone had cut our chain and stole my husband 1,000 mountain bike. Will NEVER stay here again. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.
Water pressure in shower and sink was horrible. The bed was so uncomfortable u could literally feel the springs. I'm still recovering from the mattress. Not to mention I could hear everything. The front desk seemed rude didn't tell us about breakfast or anything.
The whole place was nice and clean and very cute! The rooms were modern and the staff friendly. The location was near many restraunts and activities. Also, the location was an easy commute to the interstate making it easy to get around the local area as I traveled around daily. This place seemed to attract a younger and unfortunately a louder crowd. I experienced next door neighbors that were incredibly loud and carrying on into the early morning hours. Nobody wants to be kept awake all night or have to confront rowdy neighbors! Also the fitness center left something to be desired. It was outdated and tiny. It would be fairly unmaneuverable if there were more than 2 people in there.
The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good and the people were nice. The room was a comfortable size. Had plenty of room to move around in room. The only downfall that I had was, that the bathroom was to small.
Not too much to like here Be careful when booking this hotel with the intention of bringing your pet. First they charge you an additional $10/night in order to get a "pet friendly" room, then when you get there they charge you an additional $20/night for actually bringing your pet. So in essence, there is a $30/night fee for pets which is much higher than other hotels in the area. Not to mention the rooms are musty smelling and in spite of their claim that the hotel was recently renovated, the rooms are far from the nicest in town. Do yourself a favor and choose one of the newer hotels in the Gateway area of town, you'll be glad you did!
The room was clean and location was quiet. Walking distance to most University buildings and venues. The room was dark with not a lot of natural light. Bathroom countertop space was limited. We had 2 queen beds and there was not a lot of space between beds and cabinets. But everything I needed for a great weekend!
