The location and concert venues It was very rundown and overpriced for what it was. The front desk was very unhelpful
We liked the trains, but thought there would be a model train display or more train themed decorations. The walls were very thin and the staff was not friendly.
Nice location. Nice landscaping Rooms are old and dirty. The shower had hair sitting in the bottom of the drain upon our arrival. The bed was very uncomfortable. The room walls must be made of paper because noise carries very well, and the other guests were loud. My wife and I were barely able to get any sleep as people were running through the halls until 2am. The Choo Choo is interesting, and the location is nice, but I would not stay here again if it was the only hotel in town.
Price was decent and the location was good being I was going to be in downtown the entire trip. Staff was nice and helpful. Standard room had a strange smell to it, like mildew or something. Random, cheap pictures of train related images on the walls. I bought a candy bar from the machine and just the heat from the machine itself made the bar melt and not really worth eating.
The staff was wonderfully friendly and our room was quiet. It's been a while since I have bought magic beans but I was certainly sold some when I made my reservations for this dump. Perhaps I'm just picky but when I pay $200+ for a traincar room and $100+ for a "double" room, I have some expectations. For example, I would like for those two rooms to be in the same zip code. As we drove past one distressed building after the next, we joked that the traincars must be first class and we were in steerage. We arrived at building #3 and were unsure if we had even rated steerage as the structure looked eerily similar to a penal farm. Thankfully, it was nicer inside than out. Nicer but not what you would expect for the price. Notes-"double" means full sized bed, NOT queen; black substance in crevices of bathroom is NOT soot from a train. I heard after we checked out that there are plans to completely re-do this hotel. If so, maybe those magic beans will grow into something special. Until then, just stop by to see the train stuff if you're a big fan and do yourself a favor by staying at another hotel.
Great location in Chattanooga and beautiful gardens and hotel facilities. The buffet breakfast was very poor. The food was slightly cold and tasted stale with very little variety for a "buffet".
Location and music venue It was really rundown And the Front desk was not very helpful.
Staff was friendly and location was nice for access to restaurants and bars Hotel needs updating and maintenance . Single serve shampoo and conditioner were both partially used... glad I paid kayak price, not full price. Comparable to a $60 a night elsewhere.
The historic site was really interesting. Loved seeing the old trains and the depot. Dinner in the pizza rail car was fun. Very unique setup! Breakfast buffet closed one hour earlier than published on their website. Normal room prices are too high...wouldn't have stayed without the deal through Kayak. They charge an extra $7 per day for parking, which always bugs me at a hotel...they know you have to park so it really shouldn't be an extra charge in my opinion.
Location. Easy to get on the bus and get anywhere It was like staying in a motel. The beds were awful....We woke up early just to get out of there. Pimple juice on the mirror from a previous guest...everything seemed to be falling apart...just needs a face lift...Wish I had spent the extra 30 bucks to stay somewhere else but since the wedding we were attending was in the hotel seemed like the best option.
Great location in fun area. Front desk staff was pleasant when we arrived. Patio outside the room. Very run down facilities. Black mold around the air vent, peeling paint in the room. Seemed dingy overall. They didn't tell us about the $7 parking fee until we checked out. Very overpriced for the condition and quality of the hotel. (We paid $121)
The grounds were a sight to see, especially decked out for Christmas -- pretty gardens, ice skating, beautiful main building with its restored foyer -- all near Warehouse Row and right beside the free electric shuttle buses. The non-train-car rooms were outdated, with extremely thin doors and walls, and the hardest beds I've ever slept on - the floor would at least have been supportive while being just as hard. No complementary breakfast; the breakfast buffet, while open, is $10/person plus beverages and tip.
Room was clean and in good shape. Good size tub and shower. Attractive fire pit outside. Door staff was friendly. The garage's lighting was either mostly lacking or not working when we were there. Coffee in the room was poor.
I don't believe after paying over $200 a night, we should have to also pay $8 a day to park our vehicle. The air conditioning in the room wasn't working very well.
Friendly staff, a number of good restaurants nearby, convenient to battlefields
Very clean. Friendly staff. Being charged for parking.
Attractive Hotel Good Location Very expensive for the small room we had. Very loud facility - room right by elevators and ice machine and constant foot traffic and loud staff members. The entire hotel was filled with a conference and we were placed in amongst them - many of the facilities were used by the conference. After a late night with lots of loud disturbances we were awoken just after 5 am and forced to evacuate the building. After standing outside for a half hour we were given no explanation on why we had to evacuate other than the 6 fire engines that pulled up - then left shortly after. I'm sure it's a fine hotel - but we just didn't have a good experience.
This was a nice hotel, very beautiful on the inside. Great music in the bar room. Valet was super nice. Our shower had very low water pressure and as a female with long hair, this took forever And was very comfortable . also the shower was clogged so we took showers in a filled bath. When they said they would come fix it right away I thought they meant within the hour, but instead it took about 3-4 hours for the person to show up. By this time we had gone out to eat, and have drinks, go back to the room and start getting ready for bed by the time he showed. The hotel said they couldn't do anything for us because we had gone through price line to get our room, which I have never heard that one before. Room rates were overpriced in my opinion, stayed at a cheap motel that has been the same if not better.
Lobby and rooms were well decorated. The hotel is in close proximity to Warehouse Row and about a mile from the Aquarium and arts district. Kids loved the indoor pool even if it was small. The hotel could have been somewhat cheaper. We didn't eat here because the prices were just as high or more than top restaurants in town. The shower pressure was obnoxiously strong. We stood in a pool of water because it couldn't drain fast enough. Rooms are nice but a bit tight for a whole family.
Its a standard mainstream hotel. It was really expensive (150 for one night) and didnt even include parking which was another 8 dollars per day. Didnt realize their was a hostel in town in a better location and much cheaper.
The room was very nice and the beds were comfortable. Having the sauna, steam room and pool/hot tub included with the stay made the price of the hotel worth it. Live music and a fireplace in the lobby made the evening relaxing. The cleaning staff was very friendly and helpful. The staff at the spa was not up to par. I have a medical condition and called a week in advance to ask about setting up a spa package that would accommodate my needs. None of my three calls were returned. As for the hotel's restaurant, The Broad Street Grille, was overpriced and the wait staff was terrible. We walked out before ordering because we waiteds so long for service.
Great facilities and excellent staff. Indoor pool was key for Spring Break. Was not very close to main attractions in the city and not in a very good part of the neighborhood. Not the best place to walk with young children.
Location Overpriced. Pictures make it look much nicer than it is. Average at best.
The room was clean Small rooms for the price...... Paying to park...
Charming interior and comfortable bed, but not very clean and shows its age.
Location/Pillows/Check-in staff Poor service from valet staff. Constantly locked out of room. Hair on bed/pillows. Dated decor.
Rooms were spacious but the hotel needs to do a furniture update.
location downtown was great for our weekend to see and do things around Chattanooga. We saw 2 outdoor concerts in the evening and really enjoy the atmosphere of downtown. No mini refrigerator in the room. Other than that the room, staff and hotel was excellent.
I was getting engaged and the staff did absolutely nothing to make it special or give me their time of day to help with improving my moment. Definitely don't expect anything more than a room key from the staff or their attention. I would have expected the staff to be a little more accommodating, but they are definitely not a 4star staff. This hotel has all the potential to be a better hotel, but the staff and no fridge in the room makes it 3 stars.
It's a beautiful historic place. It's difficult to get around the separate towers. The pool area should be promoted more.
The hotel was beautiful, extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Bathroom could use some detail attention, especially the bathtub. Parking is pricey.
Excellent friendly staff. room was small
They upgraded our room without us asking. They were very helpful with recommendations for breakfast. The pool and fitness center were clean and a nice amenity for the hotel. I would absolutely return. The bathroom was small but clean. It is to be expected from a historic hotel.
Everything, the hotel was great. Felt like I was in the 1930s.
The decor and carved wood is remarkable!
Room was very big, very spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable!
Staff was rude and seemed bothered we were checking in and didn't even give us directions to the nearest elevator. Room was OK except for pillows were too soft and not enough towels. When we asked for more, again they seemed bothered. And breakfast was a joke. Cold boiled eggs that had instructions to "warm them up by putting them in a cup of hot water", no forks or Condiments, most juice and milk dispensers were out, and when asked if there were any more forks anywhere, again they seemed bothered.
The staff was friendly, the room was clean and the breakfast buffet was excellent even at 9:30 am. The beds were quite firm.
