It's very classic and vintage. If you've seen a Wes Anderson movie you get the idea. My room had a flat screen television. Which totally did not fit the decor of the room. I would have given a 5 star review had the TV been of a tube type with rabbit ears. I would have given 6 stars had it had a rotary dial to change channels requiring me to get out of bed to flip stations. The push button dial phone also added a "tackiness" to the room that I just couldn't shake off during my stay. Perhaps a rotary phone would have alleviated my disappointment. If these issues could be resolved it might end up being a respectable establishment.
The hotel is literally steps away from the mayo clinic, but that is its only redeeming feature. My room was a tiny, old, room that had clearly once been a suite and had since been modified into the type of rooms this hotel gives to customers who book from discount websites. I could hear every movement and sound made by my neighbors. The hotel restaurant is a one star glorified Denny's. Spend your money elsewhere.
LOCATION TO MAYO! temperature control
No need to go outside in the cold. Toilet needed repair and it was not done for us. No breakfast included. WiFi not very speedy.
Can't beat the location, right across the ferret Dom the Mayo. Continental breakfast was good. Good selection of food and staff present to be of help. The staff throuout the hotel was very nice. The rooms are very dated. They suffer from neglect as do some of the amenities provided by the hotel ( ex. The treadmills don't work because of the constant exposure to the pool's humid environment.
Very close to Mayo Clinic with very short pedestrian subway connection to the clinic. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had a comfortable bed and nice TV. The room (standard) was VERY small. It had a single queen bed only. There was no refrigerator. The room was SMALL. There was only 1 little bottle of shampoo that wasn't replaced during our 3 night stay. The room was very tiny, hardly enough room to get around the bed.
My wife has a bad back but found the bed comfortable. Room was clean. Breakfast was good.
The room was very nice. Smelled a little moldy, but that can happen in small spaces. The woman at the front desk was willing to move me (she offered) but I told her spray would suffice. The dining area was very, very clean and there were good food items to choose from. Overall, stay was excellent. Would stay there again. Just moldy smell.
great price, good location; nice staff, decent breakfast and good coffee; quiet room, everything that you need for a hotel stay slightly musty odor in room (improved some by opening window and spraying Febreeze.
