The Staff were amazing , the view of the valley was very nice. I was thrilled to stay in a hotel which played a major Roll in the development of Edmonton, Alberta and Canada. For this reason the Mac is priceless history. I will be back Small room garbage on the lower patio
Nothing When I arrived to the hotel after a long day of travel I was told that "due to unforeseen circumstances" they did not have my room. Basically the hotel overbooked itself and gave away the room that I had a confirmed reservation for. They didn't even bother to call me in advance and let me know. Instead they just let me arrive at the hotel and sent me around the corner to a hotel of a significantly lower quality and level of service. I am appalled by this experience and will never book a room at any fairmont property ever again.
Great place to stay for our wedding night. Comfy bed, recently remodeled room with great facilities. We had dinnew at LA Ronde and it was fantastic! Got woken up at 3am to woman banging on a door three doors down yelling "is she in there?!?!" Commotion lasted 30 minutes
Staff helpful Paying $15.95 for parking.
Check in was effucient - good staff - room was very clean. Excellent beds.
It was clean and comfortable. Great location and breakfast. That my internet connection in my room did not work
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was really lovely, comfortable beds and nice bathroom. The desk in the room was really handy, along with internet access. Both restaurants were great - friendly staff, good food, and good value. We used the pool and exercise room - wonderful. We were on the third floor and there was a banquet on Friday night on the second floor and we heard it.
if i go to travel in down town edmonton , i will choose it, it have all i need. We were on the third floor and there was a banquet on Friday night on the second floor and we heard it.
When I was checking in it was midnight. There was a young woman beside me who was 1/2 dressed and obviously very intoxicated. She had lost her phone... was a mess. She was insisting her boyfriend was in the hotel and she needed a key. The staff couldn't find his name on their register (very likely she was at the wrong hotel!!) but they gave her an old shift from lost and found and were unfailingly polite and kind even though she was rude and crying and screaming. And apologized like crazy to me when they sent her on her way... but not their fault at all! Great when staff are nice to me when I am polite - amazing to watch them be patient and sweet to someone who was awful!!
See Cons, as there was more than there was Pros. However, I should give my compliments to the reception and housekeeping staff, who were friendly and accommodating. I left my watch in the first room we were given (immediately switched), and housekeeping did report this, and it was quickly returned to me at reception when I noticed. I chose the Sutton Place in Edmonton based on a good experience at their location in Vancouver, which is a nice hotel. The Edmonton property is just not of the same caliber by a mile. The problems started on arrival: parking is not obvious, and no valet was present for directions (it was admittedly Sunday night). The parkade elevator was broken, and stairwell lock, so we ended up exiting through the back into a garbage filled alley. The first room we got had a very loud/on-the-verge of breaking heating fan, so I immediately requested a change of room (which was granted). The amenities are less than Sutton in Vancouver - the mini bar was empty (not stocked - I had been hoping to get some $10 chocolate on the company's dime), the wallpaper in the bathroom old and dirty (fan didn't work). The Television did not carry Sportsnet West, which forced us to go down to the lobby late at night to watch the Flames (lose unfortunately) in the playoffs. The elevators are old, the buttons don't work properly and when you arrive on the ground floor the movement of the lift is gut-wrenching. The hotel restaurant - Chop - is nicely appointed however has a relatively limited menu which we struggled with, as it was dominated by steak. Although admittedly a steakhouse, a hotel restaurant needs more options.
