The room was clean, quiet and an excellent value for the price.
It was dirty. Made suggestions to front desk on what needed to be cleaned and none of it was done. It's a dump. Completely uncomfortable.
The staff were amazing
They advertise low rates and then throw on what ended up being a 20% Destination Fee. That is false advertising. Go with other hotels in Rapid as they are at least honest in their advertised rates.
The room was clean and quiet. We had our 9 month old with us and we didn't feel like we were intruding on the neighbors with his occasional cries like we did at some other hotels with paper thin walls. We didn't take advantage of the water park but it did look like it would be a lot of fun for kids.
Bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke amd the front desk did not care.
The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They were able to give me tips on Mount Rushmore and places to eat on Thanksgiving. I liked that it was dog friendly.
Kids running along the hallways, not really the fault of the management. Noise from other rooms was moderate but still there. Strange light switch...only one light switch next to the door controlled all the lights. Therefore there was no way to just turn on/off the lights next to the bed.
We stayed on the 8th floor and had a terrific view of downtown Rapid City, including the ice rink. I felt like I was in a Christmas movie watching the kids skate around. The Vertex is a very nice rooftop bat and it was nice to sit in front of the fire on the patio in mid December, enjoying the view without freezing,.
Construction outside starting at 6:15! Dirty floors in lobby and elevators due to workers... with no attempt to clean it up. No kitchen. Generally chaotic and noisy. No thermostats in rooms: either heat and you cook or cold and you freeze. Sorry, just a bad property.
I liked that it was close to downtown. The breakfast was very good. Beds were comfy.
Too many dogs to tolerate. A few might have been okay, but there were too many.
