The staff were awesome; generally very friendly This hotel is not representative of the Shangri-La group, and I struggle to see how it maitains a 5-star rating. The showerdid not drain properly, grit between the shower tiles is black in places, the fan is chipped, carpet stained, phone's "quick dial" buttons did not work, and the room is old and dated and sparsely furnished.
Friendly and helpful staff. Close to pier, shopping, restaurants, and anything you would need really. Nice clean rooms. Large bathroom. Beautiful pool. Wifi reception was poor in the rooms.
During our stay the towel was not very clean coz I saw three times the hair in the towel.
We were offered the opportunity to join the Priority guest program and told that discounts would apply to our accomodation and food immediately. We joined straight away and subsequently a card was left in our room. When checking out we presented the card but were told that it did not apply to our accomodation with that stay, nor did it apply to breakfasts or to room service and that we should have presented the card when actually eating in the dining room. When we said that this had not been explained to us we were told it was in the booklet which accompanied the card - which we neverreceived. We felt that the 'selling' of the Priority Guest card was deliberately deceptive and it left us with a very sour taste.
Excellent friendly helpful staff great location totaly relaxing and enjoyable stay
Views were great both mountain view and ocean. Even nice location about 10 minutes to city center along the great esplanade. Very very dated needs complete Reno. Plus they must not look up when they clean. All the vents and doors were sooo dirty We stayed in a two bedroom condo which could have been wonderful expect the furnishings were so old and made everything feel so unclean. Plus 6 nights and no new towels etc. wifi slow or non If privately own condos they shouldn't rent people's who aren't updated as $200 per night and it was 2 star only

Zimmer war sehr geräumig, die Lage ist perfekt mit wundervollen Ausblick auf den Hafen vom 15. Stock, die Ausstattung des Zimmers entsprach voll den Erwartungen, Die Preise für Dinnerbuffett sind etwas astronomisch

check in war schnell und alle unterlagen waren ready, zimmer gross, aber alt, bad und WC getrennt fruestueck, generell kaum service fuer ein 5 star hotel in allen belangen, minibar nicht aufgefuellt, zimmer und bad nicht akurat sauber, sehr laut, keinerlei F&B outlets mit standards fuer ein 5 star hotel
The location was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. The matresses were too soft.
The staff was helpful and non intrusive, the room was changed promptly when we clarified that the bedding arrangement was not as agreed. Overall a very good experience. The lifts were daggy and slow and the carpets were not vaccumed every day. However, that was not a big drama.
I'ts location on the Esplanade The amenitiies in the room were dilapidated. Staff said that renovations were being considered but that doesn''t helpthe guest who is allocated a roomat present in one ofthese old rooms.
Lovely view, comfy beds and the choice of pillow types! It would've been nice to have a coffee plunger and real coffee, instead of instant. Bathroom was a bit snug but well appointed.
Quiet location and within easy walking distance to the city centre and shops. The pillow is not that all comfortable
We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn. I would certainly return there if we come again to Cairns We have no complaints
