The overall appearance of the Hotel was very nice. Could not find a speck of dirt or even a water spot on the tile or the shower. Food was even above average for this type of hotel. The problem started around 10pm, when most guests were turning in for hte night. Loud, booming music began. Called front desk, in which the manager said it was a Halloween Party for the staff and that it would end at midnight. Well midnight came and went, two additional calls to the front desk, just to be told that the Manager was now at the party and it might end a 2am. At 1am i had enough and had to make the front desk move me to another part of the hotel. Once settled in from a 22 hour run without sleep, I started getting calls to my room every hour from someone in the hotel. Had to make the front desk block my from in order to sqweak out 4 hours of sleep. They gave no discounts, just sent me on my way. Came back through the following week, just to hear the same music playing late into the night, thank g...
The hotel itself was rather rustic and expensive. #40Although the hotel compound is the only place that I felt safe.#41 The city itself is absolutely down right scary. If you have the brass to walk the streets you notice something immediately. You feel like your walking around with a pork chop tied around your neck and the people would love nothing better but to get you down a back alley to eat you. Of all the places that I have visited in my life time I have found that this country is one to be avoided. I did met some very nice and interesting people while I was there but would never return.
I would recommend this hotel because it is clean and secure. There is a great coffee shop on site, also two good restaurants. Staff made us feel welcome. There is a shuttle from there airport which was very helpful.
In Belize city this is the best place to stay. Remember Belize city is not the islands nor is it inland. Stay here to be safe.
Belize was a great vacation. I definitely recommend the River Cave tubing with a tour guide. The staff in the hotel were extremely helpful and went out of their way to help the guests. The pool was great and the view beautiful. The only drawback is that there is not beach access to layout on or swim in; however, the water taxi to one of the islands is easily accessible. There is not a lot to do near the hotel if a cruise ship is not in that day because most shops do not open unless a ship is in; however, we enjoyed relaxing at the hotel.
My review is colored by the fact that we have stayed at some of the worlds best hotels. While in Belize you have to adjust to the standard set for that area. So if you need to stay at the best property in the area, this is it. The staff makes up to any shortcomings of the property. I would stay here again.
This hotel was nice for the price. The hotel desk staff were very helpful. The bakery had delicious coffee and pastries which I craved (especially the chocolate croissants!). The stonegrill restaurant was fun and yummy. The pool was nice and clean. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Would recommend and stay here again!
1. Our room was not available until after 5pm 2. After a week of humanitarian work I was looking forward to a hot, relaxing bath...but there was no tub stopper. Front desk advised none available in the hotel. 3. Decided on a hot shower...no water pressure, just a faint dribble. 4. Turned the shower on and set it at a temp, but would suddenly go from HOT to COLD and would not stay on a stable temp setting 5. When I inquired the next morning about the 100% satisfaction guarantee, the attendant first tried to claim that I hadn't reported the trouble to them, which I had. Then she said it didn't apply in this case...Really??? They when would it apply? What I will say is that the bed was very comfortable - but when you pay for the highest priced room you certainly expect better treatment and room accommodations than what I got.
This is the place I stay when I go to visit my friends, who are like family in Belize...I just wish they would allow my friends to visit with me in my room....that is the ONLY drawback....The staff is exceptional and the accommadations are very nice...bit pricey but that is expected...I have stayed here Numerous times since 2006.
We stayed at the Radisson on the night we arrived in Belize City, prior to leaving for Turneffe Island the following day. Our room was in the older part of the hotel but was still nice and clean. We had a good dinner at the Stonegrill Restaurant at the hotel and yummy pastries at the Petit Cafe in the morning. The live music at the Stonegrill by the pool was really impressive and the service was very good overall. Later, at the end of our trip in Belize, our plans didn't work out and we decided to return to the Radisson for our last night in the country. Jesse at the front desk welcomed us back and congratulated us, as we had just gotten married on our trip. We were treated to a room upgrade and champagne, and more of the great service that we received on our first stay. We relaxed by the pool and enjoyed another meal at Stonegrill with more good live music. Free internet access in business center was great for confirming travel plans. Belize City isn't a place most people would want t...
I found the hotel to be relatively clean, and a nice spot in the middle of Belize City, which is not a vacation hotspot. The staff was fabulous, very friendly and helpful, and were patient with all my questions. They arranged for some neat things to do, and I always felt safe there.
During a recent trip to Belize City I had the pleasure of staying at the Radisson Fort George Hotel. The staff were amazing and extremely helpful and made me feel like I was at home away from home. Despite a small problem with our air conditioning units (which was rectified) the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel amenities were fantastic including the gym and two pool areas. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Belize City
It's in a converted colonial mansion, which is very charming. The wide porch is amazing in the evening. Room and reservation ready on arrival. Room was very clean. It's in a converted colonial mansion, with all the quirks of an old house. There's an odd split thing going on whereby the bottom-floor stuff (restaurant, bar, some other stuff) is not at all connected with the hotel. It doesn't seem to be a great location, but it's not clear that there would be a better location in Belize City. Contrary to some listings, there is no airport shuttle (not necessarily a negative of the place, but a shortcoming of the listings).
Location, friendly staff, and quiet location made it very enjoyable, despite a few "issues". A noise (turns out the room next door had noisy water pipes, and their bath was right next to our headboard) scared the crap out of us in the middle of the night.
Location to Radisson Dock was good since we were on a guys flyfishing trip . Checkout was not professional . No receipt . Extended checkout was offered for $200 beliezian .
Good air conditioning, local charm A lot of Mosquitos in the restaurant - definitely put on insect repellent before eating. Food and room were a little expensive
Much smaller than the photos make you believe. Much noisier than expected.
nice location on the water front. The only nice, safe area in Belize City
Our room was large so it was comfortable for all of us. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Only one restaurant to eat at for dinner. We stayed in Belize city to do some mainland excursions.
Great location and had some charm. Nice it was across from a Radison that had all the amenities of a large expensive hotel - including multiple restaurants. Great staff. Large rooms.
front desk staff was very nice. thought there was a shuttle to the airport...there was not. Restaurant located downstairs was a bit odd....
Loved it, very charming
It was located close to the water taxis, and it was a clean and friendly atmosphere. The front desk staff was very helpful and able to allow us to check in early due to a change in travel plans. The restaurant was only okay. The food was nothing special, and we were able to eat better quality food for cheaper elsewhere.
I did not stay here due to some bad ratings. I cancelled this reservation within Joe's of making it and they tried to keep $145 of my money. They sent me an email stating I needed to cancel the day before I made the reservation. contact my credit card to dispute that $145. Something is definitely wrong there.
Paid $130 per night. Beds were uncomfortable. Room was humid. Went down in morning to get coffee in lobby and none was available there or in the breakfast restaurant. Workers slacking over chairs or posted against the wall not at all eager to help.
The staff was very pleasant and accommodating and the view was nice. The breakfast was nice and there were a lot of things you could do at the property. The location was convenient, but the area was not very safe. The room was not satisfactory and I had to be relocated. The safe did not work in the room, nor did the cable TV. So I was relocated to another room. The safe worked there, but the A/C was so noisy that the room was uncomfortable. The property is also in a bad area, and we were warned that we should not walk around the area. What confirmed that was the fact that at the door was an armed guard standing with a shotgun. Plus, you had to pass through a metal detector to get in the property. The biggest problem with the property is that it is simply tired. There is a lot of deferred maintenance and things that needed updating.
The front desk was extremely helpful and always had a smile on their faces, could not ask for more.
location, access to restaurants the hot water stopped running at some point, the corridors weren't clean, the faucet system was leaky, the a/c unit was too aggressive and difficult to control
Staff was very helpful. Main facilities are are eye catching like most Ramadas Inns. Needs lots of up grades. Changed out a/c and the TV was not usable. Old, needs major up grades. 4 lanes bowling, doesn'the work. Pool very large, hard to get to, lots of construction noise, no shade. Marina is private with very little to offer. Food portions will keep you skinny. After five days at various restaurants, not one great meal. The Casino was weired. Very few gamblers, not very friendly staff. Only visited it once.
Location was nice and the sheets were clean 1) didn't have my reservation 2) room key didn't work. 6 times. Security eventually opened the door 3) random junk in the hallways. Fridge, telephones, paint cans. 4) random rooms open with no door locks-maybe under renovation 5) changed room because key didn't work 6) no towels 7) phone was broken 8) AC was broken 9) changed rooms a second time 10) shower didn't drain 11) hot water worked 10% of the time 12) pool is very shallow and dirty
Big Pool Staff wouldn't let anyone check into the hotel until 3 p.m. sharp even though the hotel was super empty. Bathroom was dirty and didn't have towels. nightclub at the hotel was bumping late into the night and kept me up even though I was 4 floors above it. The pool was large but the area was poorly maintained and seemed abandoned. The lightening in parts of the hotel was almost non-existent and incredibly difficult to see when walking through. The shower had very limited hot water and the water would completely shut off several times throughout my shower. The water the hotel looks out on is murky/dirty. The hotel is very overpriced.
the bartender rain leaks from roof in several areas when it rains; breakfast and dinner buffets are really poor; they situated us in a room which on friday and saturday nights is above a loudly booming night club - music starts about midnight and goes until 5 am; petty theft from our room; beds and pillows uncomfortable; sheets at least a million years old and threadbare; internet very slow; hot water in shower luke warm at best; tub does not drain so you shower standing in soapy water. i hope i never have to stay here again
Our group of friends got in too late to catch a boat taxi to Caye Caulker so we stayed here for one night. It checked all the boxes; food, bar, casino and other amenities. The rooms were clean and the staff was nice but overall it wasn't anything special. I'll stay again if I'm in Belize City.
-Cool AC -Armed guard with a shotgun -Metal detector -Wifi doesn't work... I stayed here twice a year apart and the wifi doesn't work, the front desk will say it works, but it doesn't, they won't help you either. -The elevators didn't work intermittently, so taking steps was necessary (not that I cared that much, but the elevator should work). -In the area of the lobby closest to the elevator it smells like sewage -Breakfast is unappetizing and dining room is adjacent to area with sewage smell
The hotel had plenty of amenities, complete with a great home cooked breakfast, casino, movie theater, and massive pool. But the location lacks availability to any sights and is located in a poor neighborhood.
The attentive, caring staff was a major asset. The buffet breakfasts are worth the extra cost, tasty local dishes. My only negative comment is the VERY LOUD music from either the poolside bar or the night club. It is rowdy and attracts a lot of people from outside the hotel. Some nights it stops at 10:00 PM but on others it goes to 1:00 AM. Sleep was next to impossible. Of course this milieu would appeal to some travelers.
The food was good. The level of customer service. The staff were very rude at times and not friendly. The room had a lot of flies and was not well kept.
Location to airport and city; friendly staff; outside ambience - pool, plants. Light bulb out in room and, although I wrote a note asking for it to be replaced and placed the bulb on top of the note, it wasn't replaced during the 3 days I was there. Also, VERY slow tub drain and air-conditioning stuck at one temperature (cold) no matter what temp. it was set for.
Beautiful gardens and courtyard. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast buffet was very good. We were 4 guests in a room. We paid the extra rate for the 2 additional guests, however, they did not receive the complimentary breakfast and were charged the regular price for it.
