After a long day of travel it was nice to pull into a resort that was all inclusive. There was no need to leave the premises There were some signs of deferred maintenance
Staff was disinterested in providing good service.
The hotel was in a nice location and nicely setup They have lot of mosquitoes all over resort and even inside the rooms. The rooms are old and need renovation
Swimming pools are great with the view of the sunset. They have 5 restaurants and not a great selection on the menu and very pricey. You need a car if you're going to stay at that the Frenchman's reef. Average price for a taxi was anywhere from $8 to $14. Luggage is $4 a piece.
Activities included in the resort fee for adults and children are excellent. Water aerobics, trivia games, yoga classes, parrot show, etc. Food prices on the property are pretty high given the average quality. The standout is Havana Blue which is on the reef side and privately operated --- the food there is excellent!
Location near the ferry dock and seaplane base. Water front room exceptionally noisy. Saturday booze barge party passed the hotel a 100' off the sea wall until midnight with blaring music that seemed to rattle the Windows. Also the light show all night on the facade of the building made me feel like I was in Vegas. Do not spend the extra $ for water front.
great location, pool and bar were nice bathrooms could've been cleaner and we experienced a leak in our ceiling and had to be moved to another room...
Is a beutifull hotel with view to the bay also has a perfect location for lunch and dinner is nearby for shopping so you can walk to all town tourist places. I will stay for the futher when I have to go there. short of space for parking and the housekeeping personnel does not clean well the room.
Proximity Restaurant space was not nice, food was not great, coffee was week and over priced
We paid over $700 for 3 nights. That is definitely not value for your money. And we did not eat or drink anything there because it was so costly.
Bugs!!!!! Many bugs drive me crazy, and the front dest told me the manager will contact me very soon, I'm still waiting for that!!!!!
We landed in St Thomas to catch the ferry the next morning to the BVI. This was right across the street and about a block down from the ferry. Can't get closer to this. Stayed both on our way to BVI and our way back. Had breakfast the first time, small portion and not anything to rave about. Had dinner the way home and it was very nice - good pasta dish. Upon arrival - late afternoon after 4 pm - we were told that our room wasn't available. We waited a few minutes with a few others in the same situation. Then we asked again and another lady found a different room that was available. Not sure why they made us wait, and would have continued to make us wait.
The location is convenient The wait to check in was ridiculously long. Even though it was 5.00, way past check in time, a lot of people were being told to wait as the rooms weren't ready. Our keys didn't work, or so we thought - turned out the door was so warped we had to literally put our shoulders into it to open the door. The room was very worn generally. Lukewarm water in the shower at best. About an hour after we arrived, the door to the room flew open - another group had been assigned our room and given keys to it. The pool was dirty with black mold and used band aids floating around. The staff were nice enough, but they are battling against impossible odds here. This place probably needs knocking down and rebuilding from the ground up.
Dirty cockroach infected and lousy air conditioning. 200 dollars for this? Only positive across from ferry dock.
We were using this hotel as a one night stay before we cought our plane next day. It's OK just to stay in for one night I just wish I had tile floors I'm not a big fan of carpets and the beds were not super luxurious a average hotel for a great price. And absolutely within walking distance of shopping.
If you're coming or going to the BVI, hotel is across the street from the ferry terminal making it perfect for crash and dash. Nothing spectacular about the hotel. Clean, quiet, what more do you want? Walking distance to Frenchtown where there are several bars and restaurants.
The staff is so friendly, there is a restaurant/bar on the premises, and it is easy to get around. Walking is easy and near to other fine dining, and there are taxis available. The shuttle to the beach is great. No room service. If that had happened, I could have given a higher rating.
Don't stay here, go to Cancun. Wayyy better.
Liked the view from our waterfront room, convenience of all inclusive, and the staff was good, but it being off season, seemed to be sometimes a bit short on availability. The food quality was very average. If you are used to eating out above a standard sit down chain (ruby tuesday's, applebees, fridays) you are not going to be impressed with the dinners. Lunch was generally pretty good with some fresh fish, and sometimes cold shell fish. Breakfast was decent, but i have definitley seen better spreads (i get the impression again this was off season, so not their best). The room was very nice, but there were bathrooms in the pool area and other areas that you just felt like they needed refreshed (rust stained urinals, and non working hot water in the mens room, and rusty light fixtures)
The pool/beach and water sports at the resort are amazing! You can snorkel right off the beach and see more fish than if taking a boat tour which is also offered at the resort. It's was great to be at a resort that is all inclusive. The view is also great! The facilities are nice and I loved the decorative tile in all the buildings. The rooms are not the cleanest; I had an ant problem in my room. Little things are noticeable such as light bulbs being burnt out and not replaced or dirty floors. They have activities at night but they end earlier than when people are ready to go back to their rooms. Not a location I would go back to as a solo traveler.
Great location. Helpful staff. The place is falling apart. Everything feels Busch league from the way the room was decorated and cleaned to the literal worst Chinese food we've ever had.
Resort was pretty Service was the worst ever. They ran out of liquor the ran out of steak knives They ran out of milk. The did not bring coffee cups when bringing a pot of coffee from room service They ran out of beach towels by 11am every day. The beach was not really a beach... you needed water shoes to even get in the water and loads of sea urchins. Pool closed at seven every night Not much for entertainment. Very hard to get off resort unless you wanted to pay 50 buck a couple to go anywhere.
It was absolutely beautiful resort inputs and outside! We had requested two beds in a room we only got one king bed. We also met many couples who had the same issue and some vice versa they got asked for a king bed and got two doubles. also the bed was not very comfortable it was kind of firm!
The staff was very nice and helpful. Helped me plan a romantic dinner on the beach for my boyfriends birthday. The view from our balcony was amazing . The room could have been a little cleaner( like the bathroom there was some areas I saw cracks on the toilet and the balcony area had some cobwebs ) but overall it was great.
Stayed in Nov of 2009.The setting is beautiful and the villas are exceptional. Well equiped and spacious. Food is very expensive but with the kitchenette we were able to fix some meals in the room. The location is secluded and private but that can also be a problem with transportation. Suggest renting a car but be prepared to drive on the left side. With it being still under construction going back and forth to the hotel will be more converient in days to come. There will be carts to transport guests. In some of the eateries the menus were very limited but the portions were huge and very tasty. We will definitely go back.
Stayed in the villas at ''The Cove''. If you need a lot of space--this works. Great for traveling with very young children and even a nanny. You can also set up an account at the adjoining marriot hotel and go to the beach at morningstar. The cove is not very caribean in style. Our room had granite counters and furnishings found in any Marriot--not very island-ish. We also stayed in Morningstar beachside. We preferred that location for its ambiance.
I'm an owner and spent my 3rd week here at the end of October. The rooms are very nice. We have a 2 bedroom, both of which are roomy with adjacent bathrooms and balconies. The Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen are in the middle of the unit, providing additional privacy between the bedrooms if needed. I do recommend renting a car. I had no problem with driving on the left side (just remember to stay close to the left side of the road). The steering wheel is situated as in mainland US. There are plenty of taxis to get you where you want to go, but a car may be more economical. We paid $80 in taxi fees for 4 people to go out to dinner. We only did it so we didn't have to be concerned if we drank. The beach at the Cove is nice, but you need to be careful of sea urchins. To the right of the dock, there are rocks near the beach that you need to get over to get to where it's sandy under the water. This is where I had an encounter with a sea urchin. It's sandier on the left side of the dock. ...
The view and sea breeze were wonderful and service and accommodation was great
All the employees where extremely attentive, the room was very comfortable, beautiful views, the pool area was great, the restaurant served delicious food. Location, although you get to enjoy beautiful views in order to move around is best to rent a motorcycle or car.
a great deal and a friemdly staff nothing
The restaurant was excellent. View of the harbor from every seat of this open air place. Even at the bar: the bartender's area was sunken to allow for better views. We were there at dusk, and watched as the daylight view of sailboats and a cruise ship turned into a sea of twinkling lights. Staff very friendly and helpful. One of the best Sunday brunches I've ever had. Easy taxi ride from airport and to ferry. Since it is on a mountainside, there are a lot of stone steps to negotiate. No elevators, which makes it difficult if you have a lot of luggage, as we did. We only stayed one night, but I would have rented a car if we were staying longer, as it is too far to walk to town. Bedroom was small but comfortable. I would have preferred one with a view. Pool was small, and in view from the bar.
