The hotel is quite a walk from the center of Hallstatt. Although, it is almost a doorstep away from the grocery. Buying water and some snacks would be helpful considering the hotel does not have a restaurant open for lunch and dinner. It opens though from 8-10am for breakfast- make sure to book your meal. Breakfast is reasonably priced at EUR5 per person.
The room is spacious and has a balcony overlooking the magnificent mountain views. The bed duvet cover is rough but enough to keep us warm. Mattress is quite thin. We booked as a couple and we were provided with only one square pillow each. Walls were quite thin that you can hear noises from the adjacent rooms. Toilet is clean.
The hotel is a long walk from the ferry station. Walking with a rolling luggage is a struggle. There are no elevators as well so it's better to carry a backpack instead.
We tried paying for our room upon checking-in but their credit card machine somewhat had difficulty getting a signal. The guy in charge asked us to pay the day after instead. While having our breakfast, the lady approached us in the middle of our meal and with a loud speaking voice asked us to, "Please please pay your invoice" (with a praying/begging gesture), which embarassed us in front of the other guests. She made it appear that we were eluding payment =(
They have a late check-in schedule at 2pm. Check-out time is quite early at 10am. We tried requesting for an 11am check-out but the lady in charge declined. Make sure to check-out on time. We were a few minutes late getting out of our room and 2 ladies were actually knocking loudly on our door and were showing us the way out??!!
The entire hotel team should be re-acquainted with the basics of customer courtesy.
