Being the largest of the bedrooms in the 1830s addition, this space welcomes you with dark, rich wood set against a historic shade of pink, and highlighted by a floral area rug.  The sturdy king poster bed, spacious dresser, writing desk and adequate closet space are well-suited to visitors of historic Chillicothe.  The private bath features a walk-in shower, cast iron clawfoot tub, pedestal sink and decorative tile.  This room honors the legacy of all those who have owned this majestic home.  The Willis-James is one of the older homes in Chillicothe and recognized on the National Historic Register.  Names such as Willis, James, Worthington, Spencer, Claypool, Walke, Tiffin, Cook, McCallum, and Biggs all have direct connections to the history of this home, and most played key roles in the shaping of Chillicothe and the state of Ohio.  Accessibility This room is on the second floor and is only accessible by stairs. There is no elevator access.

Located on the ground floor in an older part of the house, this quaint room is ADA accessible with queen bed, open shower concept, in-bedroom vanity, and comfortable reading chair.  The historic blue of the mantle, accented by a marble tile hearth, flawlessly blends with the bold colors of a rag cloth rug.  Throughout the history of 58 W. 5th, there were numerous women who have been the bedrock in establishing and preserving this home as a beacon in Chillicothe society.  For nearly 100 years the house was passed down through the matrilineal line of Ellen Tiffin Cook, daughter of the first governor of Ohio Edward Tiffin.  We pay our respect to all these dignified and hospitable ladies by naming, what has always been considered, the "Matrons Room".  Accessibility This room is on the first floor and is accessible by an exterior ramp to the guest entrance. The bathroom includes grab bars adjacent to the shower and toilet.

The backyard overlooks pastureland and beautiful sunsets while the frontage is beautiful hillside and an inspirational sunrise. Relax on the patio and watch a wide variety of wildlife and an occasional goat. Family owned for 5 generations with many items passed on to each generation. Home has a unique collection of house plants including a Purple Heart wondering Jew (that has been in the family for two generations) and aloe. Spacious Rooms and patio area are large enough for large groups. The kitchen is 20' by 26' and was designed as a center of gathering. There is plenty of parking. Once complimentary supplies are used up, you are responsible for restocking for the completion of your stay. We do provide an errand service.
